Our “slogan” Connecting people to Christ, others, ministry and the World is our mission statement and also our process statement. This also reflects our end goal, guiding and building believers to become growing and maturing disciples of Christ. This was Christ’s last command while here on earth. (Matthew 28:19-20)

While we want to be a church that is deeply connected to Christ, others, ministry, and the world – we realize that spiritual transformation is a process only God and His Spirit can begin, continue and complete in the individual’s life. (John 3:5-6; 1 Corinthians 2:4-5; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 8:29) Therefore, we partner with God in moving people through our transformational discipleship process.

We offer ministries/environments to help move people through our discipleship process. We have identified what we believe are the best environments to place people in for spiritual transformation, and we are committed to only offering these environments so nothing competes with the best.

What to Expect

What to Expect…

What will you experience in a typical worship service at St. Andrews?

We hope that this will answer some those questions. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to read “What we believe”.

First we are a “Pentecostal” congregation which simply means we believe that the Holy Spirit can and is working in the lives of Believers just as He did in the First Century Church. You will find that our worship is expressive in clapping our hands, raising our hands, lifting our voices with praise and adoration unto God. Some may dance unto the Lord during worship, some may bow before the Lord in worship, some may cry, some may laugh, etc…. In any given service we will have a time for prayer at the “altar” where we pray and lay hands on people in that God will touch them and meet their needs.

You will find that this congregation is a friendly one. You will find that the Pastor is committed to preaching and teaching the Word of God. You will find that we are ethnically diverse and all are welcome regardless of their color or ethnical background. One day all races of humanity are going to worship God together around His Throne so we are rehearsing together now.

Why do we...
Why are some so expressive in their worship?
Why do some speak in tongues during the worship service?
Why do we lay hands on people and pray for them?
What is the “altar” and why is it important?
Why do we take up an offering every worship service?
Why do you take up special missions offerings as well as tithes and offerings?

What We Believe

These are nonnegotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of God churches adhere to. This list is derived from the official Statement of Fundamental Truths.

WE BELIEVE…The Scriptures are Inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind.
WE BELIEVE…There is only One True God–revealed in three persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity).
WE BELIEVE…In the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s son Jesus was both human and divine.
WE BELIEVE…though originally good, Man Willingly Fell to Sin–ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world.
WE BELIEVE…Every Person Can Have Restored Fellowship with God Through ‘Salvation’ (trusting Christ, through faith and repentance, to be our personal Savior). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]
WE BELIEVE…and practice two ordinances—(1) Water Baptism by Immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation, and (2) Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation.
WE BELIEVE…the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a Special Experience Following Salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]
WE BELIEVE… The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is ‘Speaking in Tongues,’ as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.
WE BELIEVE…Sanctification Initially Occurs at Salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christlike.
WE BELIEVE…The Church has a Mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe ‘the Church’ is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ.
WE BELIEVE…A Divinely Called and Scripturally Ordained Leadership Ministry Serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, to build up or edify the body of believers–the Church and to Meet human need with ministries of love and compassion.
WE BELIEVE…Divine Healing of the Sick is a Privilege for Christians Today and is provided for in Christ’s atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]
WE BELIEVE…in The Blessed Hope—When Jesus Raptures His Church Prior to His Return to Earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]
WE BELIEVE…in The Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace.
WE BELIEVE…A Final Judgment Will Take Place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire.
WE BELIEVE…and look forward to the perfect New Heavens and a New Earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. ‘And so shall we forever be with the Lord!’

Scripture and Same-sex marriage
Scripture defines marriage solely in terms of the union of a man and a woman (e.g., Matthew 19:4–6; Mark 10:5–9; cf. Genesis 1:27–28, 2:20–24; Ephesians 5:21–32). Not only that, Scripture prohibits same-sex intercourse (Romans 1:26–27; 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Timothy 1:10; cf. Leviticus 18:22, 20:13). When it comes to same-sex marriage, Scripture prohibits what the Supreme Court permits.

As Christians, Assemblies of God adherents affirm that the Bible determines what we believe and how we behave. Our Statement of Fundamental Truths puts it this way: “The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice.” And: “The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct”

Homosexuality and being a Christian

The Bible is clear in both Old and New Testaments, that homosexuality is a sin and cannot be a valid lifestyle as a Christian. See Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:8-11

In these matters we therefore we stand with the Word of God as our all sufficient authority for faith and daily conduct. We CANNOT and WILL NOT change the Word of God to suit ours or our societies desires.

We also DO NOT advocate hate or spite in declaring the Word of God. Jesus was always courteous but never compromised in proclaiming God’s Word, even if the the truth was offensive.
